ATL.DLL Missing

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

When installing the network utilities (NetUtils) to Windows 98se or Windows Me, you get the error, “ATL.DLL missing, must install TinyTERM Plus.” It comes up immediately after the progress bar for starting the NetUtils setup hits 100%. Installing TinyTERM Plus in safe mode bypasses the problem in some cases.

NetUtils Uninstall Removes Msvbvm60.dll

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

When uninstalling TinyTERM Plus, you must also remove the “NetUtils” item in Add/Remove Programs to finish the uninstall. This removes the file msvbmvm60.dll from the PC as well.

If the file isn’t present when NetUtils (the network utilities part of TinyTERM Plus) is installed, NetUtils installs it. However, whether or not the file was present before, the uninstall removes it. This happens even if other installed programs rely on the file.

TinyTERM Installs Network Utilities

Friday, April 27th, 2007

On install, TinyTERM 4.30 also installs NetUtils. However, the license will not allow them to execute. They should only install with TinyTERM Plus.

VXDLDR or VCDFSD Error Forces Safe Mode

Monday, April 16th, 2007

After installing TinyTERM Plus Edition version 4.05 or earlier, at reboot you may see an error about vxdldr or vcdfsd. You can only boot in safe mode after that.

This error comes from a timing conflict with a virtual device loader. To fix it, uninstall TinyTERM Plus Edition, then reboot. On reinstall, deselect the NFS component.

Disable Century Icon in System Tray

On Windows 95, 98 or Me, you can remove the Century Internet Services icon in the Systray by doing the following:

  1. Right-click on Network Neighborhood.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Select Century Internet Services.
  4. Select Properties.
  5. Click the Option tab.
  6. Remove the check mark from “Start Internet services at Windows startup.”
  7. Click on OK twice.

In either case, the icon will be gone when you next start Windows.

Network Utilities Not Installed

Monday, April 9th, 2007

After installing TinyTERM Plus Edition version 4.02 or 4.03, you may find there are no network utilities installed. You may also have noticed a CenLic32.dll error during install.

This is generally caused by installing TinyTERM Plus Edition over an older version of TinyTERM. To resolve this, do the following:

  1. Uninstall all versions of TinyTERM.
  2. Reboot the PC.
  3. Search drive C:\ for CenLic32.dll. Delete any copies you find.
  4. Install TinyTERM Plus Edition.

If you experience any other install issues after this, run one of the following install patches, whichever is appropriate to your version:

TinyTERM Plus Edition 4.02
TinyTERM Plus Edition 4.03

We also suggest you install Winsock2 on Windows 95 machine. You can download that here.

Large LPD Jobs Fail in TinyTERM 3.3

Friday, April 6th, 2007

Using the LPD server from TinyTERM Plus or TERM Professional 3.3 on Windows 95, print jobs over 8,000 bytes in size sent to Windows 95 are not printed. When this happens, check the host system and the PC. Does either have a Compex 10 Mbps network card? If so, replace the network card. You should not need to change any settings in the LPD software. Print jobs above 8,000 bytes should now print.
