Bind Error 10049
April 6th, 2007
Running TinyTERM on Windows 3.1, you may get a bind error 10049 when telnetting to a host. This usually happens when you have more than one TCP stack, such as Novell Client 32, running at the same time. In this case, do not use the TCP/IP stack that Century provides. Use the one installed before TinyTERM instead.

Using TinyTERM Thin Client on Windows NT 4.0, when you are logged in as an administrator TinyTERM runs without a problem. Non-administrator users may see the error, “Application failed to initialize.”
When this happens, locate the file MS42.DLL . Grant full access rights to all users for that file. That will clear up the error.

The TinyTERM 3.3 documentation is all in PDF format. Acrobat Reader was added to the install for that reason. If you already have Acrobat Reader installed, then during the TinyTERM 3.3 install, deselect the product documentation. This will stop the Acrobat Reader install.

Using the LPD server from TinyTERM Plus or TERM Professional 3.3 on Windows 95, print jobs over 8,000 bytes in size sent to Windows 95 are not printed. When this happens, check the host system and the PC. Does either have a Compex 10 Mbps network card? If so, replace the network card. You should not need to change any settings in the LPD software. Print jobs above 8,000 bytes should now print.

The VT220 and VT320 emulations have two different function key modes, 7-bit and 8-bit. TinyTERM version 4 defaults to 8-bit handling of the function keys. But many host applications will only accept 7-bit function keys.
The VT220-7 and VT320-7 emulations in TinyTERM are strictly 7-bit emulations. Function keys in those emulations send the sequences required by applications requesting 7-bit key sequences.
Complicating the matter, some host systems do not recognize VT220-7 or VT320-7 as valid terminal types. For those cases, set the telnet terminal type to “vt220” or “vt320” as appropriate.
Century Software, Inc., also provides a replacement keyboard.dat with 7-bit definitions for VT function keys. To use the file, download it to your C:\Program Files\Century\TinyTERM directory. In that same directory, locate the existing keyboard.dat and rename it as a backup. Then rename the downloaded file to keyboard.dat.
The next time you start TinyTERM, open the Session Properties and go to the Keyboard tab. In the “Keyboard schemes” drop-down a new scheme will be available: VT220. Select that, then OK and save the changes. The same scheme will work for both VT220 and VT320 emulations.

Using TinyTERM 4.02, the SCOANSI emulation seems to be blurry, fuzzy and not as clear as it was in older version of Tiny Term. This is a known issue, corrected in TinyTERM 4.03. There is no patch.

Using TinyTERM 4.02 or 4.03, lines wrap whether or not the “End of line wrap” option is set. To get it to stop, you must open the Session Properties, verify the box is not checked, then click OK. This will work even if the box is not checked.
This is a known issue in TinyTERM versions 4.02 and 4.03. It was fixed in version 4.04. There is no patch.

Using TinyTERM version 4.02 or 4.03, when the custom emulation size is set, if you exit TinyTERM or if the screensaver comes on, the emulation displays at standard size. The custom emulation size setting is ignored. This issue was fixed TinyTERM version 4.04, originally released in June 1999. There is no patch.

This error happens when you have “Start Minimized” selected in the Century NFS Server options. To fix it, edit the nfssvr.ini file using any text editor. Find the line:
startminimized=ON
Change ON to OFF. Save the file. The Century NFS Server will start normally after that. If it does not, This error suggests that the server is not configured correctly. To resolve this problem, edit nfssvr.ini again and search for the line:
enabled=ON
Change ON to OFF there as well.

5250 Card
April 5th, 2007
The TN5250 emulation available in TERM Professional and TinyTERM Plus will not work through an IBM 5250 card. The 5250 card has its own software and cabling. TinyTERM Plus and TERM Professional use TCP/IP.
Telnet is the only option available to both. TinyTERM Plus version 4.5 also has SSL/TLS capabilities.
