TinyTERM Doesn’t Open in Browser

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

When using TinyTERM Web Server Client 4.50, clicking a browser link always opens TinyTERM in a separate window. The OLE Settings don’t affect this.

CR 840, fixed in TinyTERM Web Server Client 4.53 (May 2007)
CR 869, problem occurs in TinyTERM 4.60 if TinyTERM was not previously installed on the PC

Closed Session Leaves Browser Grey

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

Install TinyTERM Web Server in Windows. Go to the directory C:\Program Files\Century\TinyTERM\ttwc and open the index.htm file there. Click on any of the four links on the left. If asked, open the file rather than saving it. TinyTERM opens in the browser as it should.

Click the Close button on the Ribbon Bar, or right-click the status button at the lower left and select Close from the pop-up menu. The window goes gray as it should. However, clicking any of the .tpx file links does not open the file. You have to close the browser, then open it again to open another .tpx file. The same thing happens in a true TinyTERM Web Server configuration.

CR 79

Multiple .tpx Files in a Browser

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

TinyTERM supports up to nine open sessions in a single browser window, the same as if it’s run standalone. However, open anywhere from four to six sessions in a single browser. Sooner or later, one of the sessions will not show up in the Session Bar at the bottom. Instead, if you click the browser’s Back button, then Forward again, the session will come up by itself. Using Back again will sometimes take you to the other open sessions, sometimes to a blank page.

Also, sometimes opening more than one session causes a .tpx file to bring up a blank page. If you click the link again, it opens properly.

CR 747

Cursor Disappears Running Script in Browser

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

Open TinyTERM inside Internet Explorer. Execute a simple CScript, such as the following:

te.xmit(“?\r”);
te.wait(“H”,2);
te.xmit(“A\r”);

The cursor disappears. If you’re not running TinyTERM Web Server Client, you can open the Session Properties and click OK, and the cursor comes back. But the Session Properties aren’t available in TinyTERM Web Server Client.

CR 697

Bypass Printer Drivers in Internet Explorer

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Configure a .tpx file to print to the Windows printer, with Bypass Printer Drivers checked. Open the .tpx file in Internet Explorer. Transparent print jobs come to the screen. A print job shows as spooling in Windows until the emulator is closed. Then the job disappears.

CR 634

Print All Scrolled Data

Friday, April 27th, 2007

Century Software, Inc., has had a request to make TinyTERM work like any other web page when printing. Specifically, typing ^P should print everything from the beginning of the session to the current screen, rather than just the current screen.

CR 521

TinyTERM Web Server Client Display Slow

Friday, April 27th, 2007

TinyTERM Web Server Client has visibly slower display than standalone TinyTERM products. Some of this is due to the overhead from running inside a browser.

CR 511

Can’t Close .tpx File in Browser

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

When running TinyTERM inside a web browser, you can’t close the .tpx file itself. You must close the browser instead.

CR 381

Saving Printer Settings in TinyTERM Web Server Client

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

Century Software, Inc., has had a request to allow users to save their individual printer settings when using the TinyTERM Web Server Client. Printer settings are currently saved in the .tpx file, which is only available from the web server when using TinyTERM Web Server Client. Implementing this would require a substantial rewrite of the printer management code.

Nevertheless, this would be a useful function, as client users are not likely to have identical printer settings.

CR 321

User-Selected Directory for Censoft.log

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

TinyTERM Web Server Client writes the file censoft.log to the directory specified by the Windows environment variable “windir.” System administrators sometimes lock users out of the C:\WINNT directory, the normal value for “windir,” for security reasons. This causes TinyTERM Web Server Client to generate errors when it tries to write to censoft.log.
